Oelwein Rotary Regatta

‘Ofcial Rules’

1. This event is limited to the rst 20 teams which have paid the entry fee in full.

2. A team consists of 3 women and 3 men who must all paddle one leg of the course.

3. Canoes and paddles will be provided and must be used, no substitutions

allowed. No external motors, sails or outriggers may be added to the supplied canoes.

4. Provided life vest must be worn the entire race or team is disqualied, no refunds.

5. All contestants will start within the Rotary cog with life vest on.

6. First leg contestants paddle the course around the bouys in their assigned lane.

**Team Captains will compete for lane choice via Paper - Rock - Scissors.

7. Second leg contestants must remain in their Rotary cog until all rst leg

contestants have exited the canoe.

8. Second leg contestants must paddle back in the lane opposite the rst leg.

**1st leg paddled lane 1, 2nd leg must return in lane 2 and vice-versa.

9. Clock stops when all three contestants from the second leg have entered the

Rotary cog.

10. Rubbing is racing, incidental contact will not be penalized, any intentional ramming

and/or striking opposition constestants with paddles may lead to disqualication. All

decisions of the judges are nal, no refunds.

11. Team Captains must report to the North side shing jetty of City Park by 12:45

to pick a racing order.

13. In the event of a tie, Teams will race head to head one more time, winner take all.

14. Refreshments available from our good friends at Celebration Oelwein beverage

garden, your cooperation is appreciated and encouraged.
